The reason I write

People always telI me that I am so inspiring, brave and courageous. Many don't understand why I'm so vocal about this illness. Well I started expressing my thoughts in a journal when I was younger. As I grew older I decided to turn my thoughts and feelings into words. As a child I felt alone, as if I had no one to talk to. This is one example of how I vent and how I deal with my illness. Since I can’t fix the issue, I write about it. Writing has become an outlet for me. Although lupus is a daily struggle, I do try to stay happy, stay positive and cope the best way that I am able to. It isn't always easy. I cry, I hurt, I get mad and angry. But when I write, I am allowed to vent all of the confusion away for that moment. I decided to share my thoughts and feelings publicly because I’d like people to get an understanding of what my life with Lupus is like. Also, to motivate others who are new to lupus and are trying to find way to explain to their loved ones and also cope with this complicated illness.

What I feel...

Picture
The most challenging part of this illness for me is being fatigue daily, the brain fog, experiencing pain regularly and not knowing what the next day will be like, It's also very difficult to explain and get people to understand.
I love me so much but I hate living with a chronic illness. It's the most disturbing part of my life.
I choose to express my hurt, pain and experiences with lupus through poetry. I write often.
My goal is to provide a better understanding of what I experience on a daily basis through poetry. My words reveal my struggles with this chronic illness.
We definitely don't get the recognition that we need. I'm hoping that you are able to share this with others in hopes that they will better understand our experiences. Lupus awareness is so important. This is a very tough illness to live with. People should know how rough it is so that we can get help.

It is so difficult whenever I try to explain my situation. I think Christine Miserandino did it best when she wrote the spoon theory. Please make sure you check it out!
